چکیده

The rapid depletion of high-grade rare earth elements (REE) resources implies that future supplies may be augmented with low-grade ores, tailings, and other unconventional to meet cut-off grades and, subsequently, supply demands. This paper presents an amalgamation studies conducted on selected complex iron-oxide-silicate-rich the overall aim developing efficacious methods associated process mineralogy characterization for enhanced REE minerals recovery upgrade. To this end, a summary overarching key results from froth flotation, magnetic separation, gravity separation tailings their implications are presented in review. Reconciliation all findings reveals lucid links between feed ore properties, mainly particle size distribution, as influential factors affect beneficiation real although distinct differences physicochemical properties valuable gangue exist. It is clearly established unliberated association within can lead either synergistic or antagonistic effects quality concentrates produced. Furthermore, limitations by poorly liberated exacerbated “fine” nature. With appreciable recoveries obtained using such readily available conventional methods, provide additional value primary commodities; hence, material could considered potential resource beneficiation. learnings respective significantly important they knowledge base greater understanding mineralogical characteristics response typical complex, tailings.

Concentration and recycling of rare earth elements (REEs) from iron mine waste using a combination of physical separation methods

This study aims to investigate and optimize the effects of the main parameters including the particle size, gravity and magnetic separation combination, high gradient magnetic separation, magnetic field intensity, shaking table slope, washing water flow, and electrostatic separation upon the rare earth element (REE) recoveries from iron mine waste. The electron microprobe showed that high amoun...

Recovery and Separation of Rare Earth Elements Using Salmon Milt

Recycling rare earth elements (REEs) used in advanced materials such as Nd magnets is important for the efficient use of REE resources when the supply of several REEs is limited. In this work, the feasibility of using salmon milt for REE recovery and separation was examined, along with the identification of the binding site of REEs in salmon milt. Results showed that (i) salmon milt has a suffi...

Assessing rare earth elements in quartz rich geological samples.

Sodium peroxide (Na2O2) fusion coupled to Inductively Coupled Plasma Tandem Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS/MS) measurements was used to rapidly screen quartz-rich geological samples for rare earth element (REE) content. The method accuracy was checked with a geological reference material and Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) measurements. The used mass-mode combinations presented accur...

Rare Earth Elements Profile

Definitions and characteristics The rare earth elements (REE) (sometimes referred to as the rare earth metals) are a group of 17 chemically similar metallic elements, including the 15 lanthanides, scandium and yttrium. The lanthanides are elements spanning atomic numbers 57 (lanthanum, La) to 71 (lutetium, Lu) (Table 1). The lanthanides all occur in nature, although promethium, the rarest, only...
